Title of Presentation: Chinese culture, bring it close
Description: Mandarin is certainly one of the dominate language is the 21st century. It is our job to teach our students Chinese language skills. It is also our job to delivery Chinese culture to them and make them aware how Chinese language is used in the cultural context, especially for students whose native language is not Chinese.
The ISF Academy found its Chinese Cultural Center in 2009. Within a year, CCC has organized Cantonese opera groups, Chinese needlework workshops, Chinese art exhibition, and guest speakers to visit our school, which has installed a new dimension of learning in Chinese for our students and teachers. Under the same umbrella, CCC runs several courses in learning Chinese and Chinese calligraphy for parents and teachers that has practically broadened the learner group at the ISF Academy. In addition, CCC has also been sharing resources on Chinese culture with the whole school committee.
The workshop aims at:
1. discovering cultural program opportunities at school
2. collaborating with relevant subject teachers and integrate with subject content
3. Work flow of a cultural program
4. funding cultural programs
5. staffing cultural programs
